Some people see you, in five minutes, the way you haven't seen yourself in years.
I'm one of them.
My name is Merel. Mother of Florence and Max.
For more than twenty years I've worked at the intersection of image, story and people.
I started in front of the camera — as a model. Then I moved behind it. As a photographer, editor, producer, marketer, strategist. I helped build brands before they became visible. Made campaigns, portraits and stories for people who had something to say — at home and abroad.
In all those years I learned one thing above everything else:
The most beautiful part is never on the surface.
What I see when I look at someone isn't how they look.
It's where they stand. What they carry with them. What's already in them but hasn't found its words yet.
That's also what draws me to the women I work with. Women with full lives who feel there's more in them — but don't quite know what it is, or how to show it.
I see it. And I know how to help it land — in image, in words, in how you present yourself.
That's twenty years of living it from the inside.
What I want is simple.
For you to feel alive again. For the way you show yourself to match who you really are.
I work from the Netherlands — and increasingly beyond it too.
Sometimes it starts with a shoot. Sometimes with a conversation. Sometimes with a moodboard and a feeling you can't quite put into words yet.
